KIRKMICHAEL EXHIBITION
A brilliant collection of photographs and other memorabilia chronicling the 20-year struggle to reclaim from utter dereliction this most historic and atmospheric church is on show at Cromarty Courthouse Museum from now until October..
Among the striking exhibits is the belfry finial which the Kirkmichael Trust has managed to reassemble from broken pieces scattered underground in the churchyard. You can also see at its base the particularly thick and stubborn ivy which had to be removed from the walls. The pictures leap out from the walls showing the kirk's path from total ruin to renovated kirk, replete with restored and recreated tombstones
